VICTORY FOR MOWERS EVERYWHERE

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, it is with tear in eye and sniffle in conk that I type these words. Not with sadness no, but with tears of joy and cries of hallelujah! For this week as I am sure most of you will have heard by now, Lawnmower Deth are to finally, after years of nagging and annoyance from the masses, grace the stage once more. The band are to open the show for Bullet For My Valentine who play The Alexander Palace in London on Saturday 15th November. They will play a 30 minute set of mainly Ooh Crickey material.

Tickets will eventually be on sale here. There is no word on any other shows they are planning. As far as I know, this is it. If this changes, I will update this site with great haste.

I'm very sorry I can not continue, the emotion has the better of me, I must sign off. A great week for the world I am sure you will agree. More news as it comes in to Cob HQ.

John

Lawnmower Deth are on MySpace

Yeah, I created a Lawnmower Deth MySpace page, and what a good idea that was. I had no idea the band were so popular over in the States. Or everywhere for that matter.

Electric Fucking Toaster do a cracking cover

Possibly the best cover i've ever heard of an LD song, sent in by The Reverend Fester Ashtray of that band mentioned above. The bloody nice chap sent me an MP3 of their cover of the classic Satans Trampoline. I was intrigued, and asked for a little more info.

"Glad you like the version we did, we'd be delighted to be included on your site. Toaster have been together for around 12 years and have done the usual round of shitty pubs and clubs. The personnel are at present; Dave "Edna" Moon - Drums, Shoulders Exfoliate - Bass, Hairy "Harold" McHair - Lead / rhythm Guitar, The Reverend Fester Ashtray - Guitar and Vocals. We have a website but its not really up to date, its at www.electricfuckingtoaster.com. Cheers for the compliments and I hope the guys realise that they still have a following. Fucking legendary!"

Here their cover of Satans Trampoline HERE

Lawmower DEF?

So, only 8 months since the last news update, we're running white hot here at the Lawnmower Deth worship site.

Supplied to yours truly from the deepest nostalgia box somewhere in Pete's house, in the Discography section for your listening ... pleasure, the rare as rockin'orse shite Lawnmower Def Kids In America remix e.p.

Get it before the feds take me out. Before they take us ALL OUT!

New material released

Well... YEAH I can say that. It's an unreleased song recorded in the Billy sessions and was sent to me by Mr Kevin P of no fixed abode, aka Baron Kev Von Thresh Meister Silo Stench Chisel Marbels. It was played live a few times but never released. Kev had the song on a tape and by the power of Greyskull has managed to put in an MP3 type downloadable situation.

It lives with the rest of the downloads. Enjoy!

Maim Mower Tattoo

How cool is this?

This is the new tattoo Justin Betts has just had done. He said:

"I've wanted it for years and finally got around to getting it a few days ago. I wanted the whole Ooh Crikey cover as a backpiece but I filled my back years ago with something else. Oh well... At least I still had some space on my arm for this one."

A fantastic and brand new interview has just been posted at the Russian Darkside webzine, quizing the bands history from start to finish with Mr Concorde Faceripper. Check it out here And this website gets loads of mentions. Quality.

A cool e-mail from Nicola Appleton

Yo charvers, crazy John here with the first update to the site in 13 months. Ace! Skill! So what do I have to tell you? Well, I have LOADS of new pictures to put in the gallery which I am going to do this week sent in by Mr Steve Concord Faceripper. Also, I had the most extraordinary e-mail from someone in March. Check this out charmone.

"HI
I know this will seem odd but i just did a search on my grandfather whom I never met cos my mum was illegitimate anyway you talk about a song created by a group called bozo clown who did a song about rf potts on babington lane in derby. its my grandfather....
I couldn't find the info on your webpage that it links to in teh search engine just hope you can help me by letting me know what u foudn out.........
Many Thanks
Nicola Appleton"

Isn't that amazing? It's like working on Time Team here, it's totally skill. Not sure what it means like... Mad. So yeah RF Potts. We always wondered didn't we.

I'll let you know when the new ACE pictures are on line. It'll take a while because I need to re think the whole pictures page as there are too many now. It'll be some kinda thumbnail affair. Which makes sense.

The Guestbook

Is it me or has Henger Jeff Moshwell broken it? What a piffling scoundrel!

The real book

Never to fall out of the hearts of great men, I have been reliably informed that Lawnmower Deth have been mentioned in the recent Robert Rankin book 'Sex Drugs and Sausage Roll'. How cool is that?

Last 'Marquee' show review added

The one from Kerrang by Morat. It's a .jpg and can be viewed here

Here's a bit of a 'Les fact' sent in by Lawnmower Deth anorak Scott Bradley. Are you ready?

"that song on Bozo clowns called RF potts is about an electrical shop on Babbington Lane(Derby), it's still there, it's still wierd and still the place to go for electrical gear."

I've added some more pictures to the picture gallery today. Sorry that update took so long chuuumps.

Kev to feature in TV show

Kev and some drunk bloke?LD Guitarist Kev Papworth is to finally become famous (heheh) when he appears on the UK Horizon channel (yeah it's on Sky) on 14th of March at 11.00pm. The series called 'Roadies II' takes a look at the life of erm... roadies, out on the road, and has been pretty good so far (I saw a couple of them). The Kev episode see's him whilst out on the road with British band 'Lost Prophets'. Kev informs us he's then off out on the road this year with Cradle Of Filth. A busy man indeed.

Unreleased song from Billy album session - "Pogo Like A Dog!"

If I could make this thing do a fanfare, now would be the time. Ladies and Gentlemen, it gives me a great deal of personal pleasure to announce that Mr Baron Kev Von Stench Crunch Marble Silo... er... I can't remember. Mr Papworth, has supplied me with an unreleased, never heard before track from the 'Billy' album recording sessions which he has very. No VERY, kindly transfered from tape to MP3 for us all to share with.

You know where it will be. Also my attempts to create a streaming media file of a full gig in Norwich (cor rock n'roll eh?) I found on a tape, is proving more difficult than first pondered. I'll keep trying though.

For news of the re-union, keep watching the forum. I havn't forgotten about the pictures you've sent me, I'm just extreeeeeeeeeemly busy. But hey, you got a new Deth song eh? Stop complaining ferrits.

Kerrang review added - Scarey John identified - Band reform?

Mr Andy Larkum has been busy scanning, and has been very kind ... very kind indeed and has sent us a review of a Lawnmower Deth gig at London's Astoria II which appeared in Kerrang almost eighty years ago. Andy can clearly be seen in the picture being groped by Kev. To get the review click the picture to the right > > > > > >

Whilst were on the subject of groping, those of you who frequent the forum will have heard tales of a certain 'Scarey John'. Well, the Scarey's have also been busy and have dug out some pictures of various antics at a Rio's gig some time ago (which I remember very well). Check the pictures section to see them.

Last but not least, it would seem that our quest to re-unite the band for a one off gig (or even more) is now closer than ever, with the possibility of a gig THIS SIDE OF CHRISTMAS. See the forum for what's been going on. These are indeed exciting times with now at least THREE members of the band WELL UP FOR IT!

Hazars! Good old Leon (he's 14 actually) has sent a scan of a Kerrang poster in. It's up in the pictures section. There's some more pictures on the way too.

Also, the lad has been COBCEPTIONALLY busy tabbing out songs. You can access all these wonderfull songs in glorious TXT file o'vision somewhere... here.  Well done mate.

Bonkers ancient interview with Kev added

Tops! About a month ago I was rummaging about under the bed looking for mucky books and food, but to my amazement found what at first glance appeared to be an ancient scripture dataing back to the late nineteen hundreds. On closer inspection I saw it was even more amazing than that - a fanzine that survived and didn't end up as bog paper. The curiosity got the better of me, and by jingo there was a one and a half page interview with Kev in there, just after he'd joined the band.

If you think I can be bothered to type it out you are madder than Kev himself. Click the zine cover to load the interview in .GIF format.

Guitar tablature!

For all of those budding Lawnmower Deth tribute bands starting up across the world, here for your bewilderment are tablatures for F.A.T and Return Of The Metal Bozo Clowns. Enormous cob shaped thanks go out to Steve "kettlebreff" Moyle for supplying them, sir - you are truely insane, and we love you for it.

Live Review added to the ... News section

Hello Mower fans anyway - apologies for the lack of updates recently, it's been... ooh bugger me a month exactly. This is due to sheer laziness combined with sheer busyness. Tabs and pictures that you have sent in are on their way - this week. Hello to all the new fans of the site in the USA too.

Oh bugger, I don't have a reviews section. It'll just have to go here then for the time being. Taken from Raw magazine (poo) it's a review of the gig where that 'greatest hits' video clip (see DOWNLOADS) was filmed. To see the review just click the image.

Added live at Nottingham Rock City video 'Xmas December 1991'!

What a grand meeting of moustachesJust managed to get this one done. Three and a half minutes of total insanity as the Deth play through 'Kids In America', 'Walking on the Moon' and 'Hanging on the Telephone'! It's 14.7Mb though so 56k modem users, unless your very patient - forget this one...

Also Hector (pictured right with Kev) has sent LOADS of scans of tickets, promo's and other barnyard oddities. They're going up next week.

5th March 2002
Added THREE more video's

I've been promising to do it for ages and I'm really sorry it took so long - so, as a little treat for you all, I've encoded not one but THREE new video clips which can be found available for your viewing pleasure in the Downloads section. The first is a medley of 10 so called 'Greatest Hits' from the first two albums, played back to back, the second is the boys doing their version of 'Crazy Horses' at some pub in Plymouth? and the third, the promised promo video for 'Lawnmowers For Heroes, Comics for Zeros'. All vids are under 3Mb and are in the new WMV format. And yes, as soon as I get a minute I'll put some more on - Kev's naked poetry and possibly a clip from Christmas at Nottingham Rock City 1991?

I've also been very kindly sent some Guitar Tablature for 'Mower Liberation Front', 'F.A.T' and 'Return of the Metal Bozo Clowns'. As soon as I've tidied it up i'll... i'll have to create another bloody section! Oh well.

Also, Hector from the Forum is going to send in some scanned stuff soon, aint you Hector? Yeeees.

Finally, it's coming up to two months since my birthday and I am proud to say my new mower hasn't even TOUCHED a blade of grass. No, we've been out drinking, burning, looting, raping an'a shootin!

Ta Very much I'm sure! Enjoy the vids, and spread the word.

John

Downloads back on-line

There you go mower fans, I've put the downloads back on the server with a few extra's for your audible pleasure. I'm working on MP3'ing the demo's, should be done before New Year. I've almost figured out the new video capture system here at work so lots of live clips coming + the promo vid for 'Comic's For Heroes' coming real soon.

We have had sort of contact with the last missing member of Lawnmower Deth. Mr Flymo (drums) has been informed about the site (so at least they all know now) and apparently pissed himself laughing that someone could actually be bothered (or would want to) create a Lawnmower Deth website!

Plus - big thanks to all of you for sending me e-mails with help and offers of stuff for the site. I will be in touch shortly, just a bit busy with other things at the moment...

Kev lives!

I bumped into a rather drunken Kev at Bradford Rio's after the Biohazard gig on Friday evening. He is indeed working on the crew of said band's recent UK stint, and is usually out on the road with bands. The evening saw members of Cradle Of Filth, ET9, Slayer's tour crew and of course Biohazard visit the West Yorkshire night club as the rest of the Tattoo The Planet guys took a night off.

I managed to have a very drunken twenty minute chat with the ex Deth guitarist and he promised to visit this site and leave some messages for us all. During the conversation, the words 'possible' 'gig' and 're-union' were mentioned, as far as I can remember. Surely a great boost to the ever growing 'CAMPAIN FOR A ONE OFF  LAWNMOWER DETH  RE-UNION GIG!'

Come on Mr Chris Flymo, your the last person to get in touch now!

I've also been talking to Return To The Sabbat bassist and good friend of Lawnmower Deth Frazer Kraske in Nottingham. He told me many stories of LD antics of old, including breaking into Andy Sneap's shed at a party, nicking his lawnmower and launching it over next doors fence, only for it to crash through the greenhouse roof!? Frazer promised to send me stories and pictures of the Deth in their prime from his 'personal collection'. We await with baited breath.

'Creep Diets' and 'Teeth' Releases?

Many people ask me about Lawnmower Deth's Creep Diet's and Teeth release as reported on the Earache web site. I have told with good authority that Lawnmower Deth never ever released these records and it was indeed label mates Fudge Tunel.

Mr Flymow & Concorde Face Ripper

25th June 01
As you can see from the Guestbook and Forum, at least THREE members of the band are still alive.  Concord Face Ripper, Qualcast Mutilator and Mightymow Destructimow have all reported in safe and well. Barron Kev Von Stenchy Stylo Chizles or whatever his name was (Kev Papworth) is apparently on tour being a roady with some band and Mr Flymow (Chris the drummer - see picture >) is round and about. The band members are being very helpful and are offering goodies for the web site, including interviews, pictures, unreleased songs from the Billy recording sessions and more vides, of which I will make clips of and eventually end up trading. This is grand news indeed. The popularity of the web site has astonished me, so thanks to you all and thanks for all the help from the various people.!
